Overview

This is a courtesy posting.

This activity is hosted by the Montana Department of Labor and Industry. For information and to register, visit https://www.eventsquid.com/event.cfm?event_id=31241

Return-to-work outcomes can’t be fully explained or improved by medical facts alone but are heavily influenced by a range of robust and well-validated modifiable factors. Traditional impairment- and compliance-based models often fall short in achieving reliable return-to-work outcomes, particularly for a disproportionate number of the most “at-risk” workers. This activity introduces the concept of ‘worker-centricity’ through an evidence-based framework that prioritizes the necessary conditions to achieve better return-to work outcomes. The framework is scalable and repeatable for organizations to implement and prevent the harm of unnecessary work disability.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize the limitations of traditional impairment- and compliance-based models in achieving predictable return-to-work outcomes.
  2. Discuss the principles and priorities of a worker-centric framework, and the necessary shift to achieve timely, safe, and reliable return-to-work outcomes.
  3. Identify the necessary conditions that produce good return-to-work outcomes and develop targeted strategies to address them.
  4. Discuss how to facilitate a collective return-to-work process that leverages the unique roles and contributions of workers, employers, and other stakeholders.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Billings Clinic and the State of Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
